I am a freshman here at Shippensburg University, and starting my college journey during a global pandemic was certainly a gut-turning experience. During my senior year of high school, I was told we'd be taking a 2-week break and we'd come back and we never did. I lost my motivation to do any work and fell into a depressive episode. I didn't want the same thing to happen at college. I lived in a dorm by myself and since we weren't allowed to have anyone in our rooms I often found myself isolated and falling into the habits from my last quarter of high school that I wanted to avoid. My favorite days were when I was actually able to sit in a classroom for a lecture or an exam, which didn't happen often since most assignments were on D2L. That was the fall. This spring semester my family and I decided it would be best for me to stay home and take classes completely online. we saw how the pandemic fluctuated over the holidays and how it would save us money. So here I am, sitting at my computer day after day. The only faces that I don't see through zoom are that of my brother and my father. I'm just hoping that things go back to normal for the Fall 2021 semester.
